First Aid Awards level: 3
Description: Course covers basic life support and emergency first aid. It is designed for those who are involved in any form of outdoor activities, including sports, leisure and recreation.
Training includes:
- responsibilities and reporting
- assessment of the situation
- dealing with an unresponsive casualty
- basic hygiene
- fractures
- drowning injuries
- electrical injuries
- heat and cold
- resuscitation
- heart attacks
- minor injuries
- bleeding control
- diabetes
- spinal injuries

- choking
- seizures
- shock
- asthma
- burns

Refresher period: 3 Years

Basic Life Support
First Aid Awards level: 2
Description: Course covers the knowledge and practical skills to undertake CPR and use an AED.
Training includes:
- responsibilities and reporting
- assessment of the situation
- dealing with an unresponsive casualty
- Automated External Defibrillator (AED) functions
- resuscitation
- heart attacks
- infection control
- defibrillation procedures
- choking
- AED safety
- paediatric defibrillation
Initial course No. of days/hrs: 1 Day
Refresher period: 3 years (refresher 1 day)
CPR & AED
First Aid Awards level: 2
Description: Course covers knowledge and skills to act in an emergency, to provide casualties with critical lifesaving assistance until support arrives.
Training includes:
- arriving at the scene
- primary survey
- secondary assessment
- cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
- choking
- safe use of Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
- resuscitation
- recovery position
The qualification is delivered following the protocols set by the Resuscitation Council (UK) Guidelines.
Initial course No. of days/hrs: Min 3 Hours
Refresher period 3 years (refresher min 3 hrs)
Basic Life Support and safe use of an AED (Automated External Defibrillator)
First Aid Awards level: 2
Description: Course covers the knowledge and practical skills use an AED and includes basic life support training.
Training includes:
- responsibilities and reporting
- dealing with unresponsive casualties
- resuscitation
- defibrillation procedures
- assessment of the situation
- infection control
- AED functions
- safety measures
Initial course No. of days/hrs: ½ Day
Refresher period: 3 years (refresher 4 hours)
Annual refresher training recommended
