Emergency First Aid at Work
First Aid Awards level: 3
Description: Course covers the skills and knowledge to enable emergency First Aider’s to provide treatment to their casualties in a prompt, safe and effective manner.
Training includes:
- assessment of the situation
- responsibilities and reporting
- dealing with an unresponsive casualty
- first aid hygiene
- resuscitation
- anatomy
- choking
- bleeding control
- shock
- Epilepsy
- minor injuries
- dealing with an unresponsive casualty.
The course is compliant with Health & Safety Executive code of Practice.

Refresher period: 3 years (refresher 1 day)
First Aid at Work
First Aid Awards level: 3
Description: Course covers all aspects of first aid emergencies, enabling delegates to deal with emergencies with confidence in a prompt, safe and effective way.
Training includes:
- basic life support including CPR bleeding
- assessment of the situation
- dealing with an unresponsive casualty
- resuscitation and AED awareness
- Heart attack
- asthma
- poisoning
- Epilepsy
- unconsciousness
- choking
- head injuries
- sprains and strains
- bandaging
- stroke
- burns
- eye injuries
- diabetes
- and a range of First Aid conditions that you may experience in the workplace
This course gives delegates the highest level of qualification in first aid and meets the statutory requirements of the Health and Safety First Aid Regs 1981.

Refresher period: 3 years (refresher 2 days)
Annual First Aid Refresher
First Aid Awards level
Description: A refresher course recommended by the HSE to be taken annually for qualified First Aiders and Emergency First aid.
Training includes:
- responsibilities
- primary assessment
- recovery position
- resuscitation
- wounds and bleeding
- hygiene
- communication skills
- action for vomit
- chain of survival
- bandaging
Initial course
No. of days/hrs: ½ day
Refresher period: Annual (refresher ½ day)
Appointed Person Course
First Aid Awards level: 2
Description: Where an employer’s assessment of First Aid needs identifies that a First Aider or Emergency First Aider is not necessary, the minimum requirement on an employer is to appoint a person to take charge of the First Aid arrangements, including looking after equipment and facilities, and calling the emergency services when required.
Training includes:
- legislation
- equipment and facilities
- responsibilities
- accident reporting
- risk assessment of first aid needs
This is a theory course, there is no practical training
Initial course No. of days/hrs: 2 Hours
Refresher period: No expiry but annual refresher recommended
Oxygen Therapy Administration
First Aid Awards level: 3
Description: Course covers how to administer oxygen safely and effectively, for casualties with breathing difficulties.
It is aimed at qualified first aiders, emergency first aiders, dental practitioners, nurses and health care workers.
Training includes:
- benefits of oxygen therapy
- indicators for oxygen use
- contra-indications of oxygen use
- dangers of using compressed gas
- health & safety with regards to use, storage and handling of oxygen
- operational checks in preparation for the use of oxygen when oxygen therapy should be used
- administering oxygen therapy
- administering oxygen to a patient within agreed ways of working

Refresher period 3 Years (refresher 1 day)
Immediate Management of Anaphylaxis
First Aid Awards level: 3
Description: Course covers how to respond to possible anaphylactic shock or anaphylaxis and how to treat it safely.
This training is for qualified First Aiders and Emergency First Aiders to enable them to recognise and treat anaphylaxis safely and effectively.
Training includes:
- describing anaphylaxis
- identifying triggers for anaphylaxis
- life threatening problems associated with the airway, breathing, circulation, disability and exposure.
- explaining the need for an early call for help
- treatment for anaphylaxis
- key features of adrenaline-auto injectors
- initial assessments using the ABCDE approach
- recovery position
- resuscitation of an adult and/or child
- recognising the need to use an auto injector
- prepare medication for administration during anaphylaxis treatment
- safe use of auto injector
- safe disposal of sharps
- handing over the casualty to medical professionals
